Islamabad: The Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) of the Federal Cabinet has approved measures to provide tax exemptions on oxygen and cylinders for the health sector across the country and to reduce and supply wheat and flour prices.
According to details, the ECC meeting chaired by Finance Advisor Hafeez Sheikh has approved measures to reduce the prices of wheat and flour in the country. According to the ECC, the private sector will be allowed to import wheat. It was informed during the briefing that the private sector has shown interest in importing 2.5 million tonnes of wheat while the prices of wheat in the world market will come down in the next two months. ۔
The Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) has also directed Punjab to provide wheat to other provinces as required, while approving a summary of tax exemption on oxygen and cylinders for the health sector to control the prices of oxygen cylinders. Approval was also given to give concessions for 3 months
The committee also approved allotment of 45 acres of land in Islamabad to the intelligence agency on the agenda and also approved supplementary grants for various departments. The CDA approved a Rs. 2.5 billion supplementary grant of Rs. 400 million for the Islamabad Police, while the ECC also approved a supplementary grant for the Pakistan Navy and a proposal to reward officers from ministries, divisions and departments.
