Islamabad: The federal government has removed Noshin Amjad, chairperson of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and appointed Muhammad Javed Ghani as chairman.
According to sources, the federal cabinet has approved the appointment of Javed Ghani, a Grade 22 member of Pakistan Customs, as chairman FBR for three months.
The Cabinet approved the appointment of Chairman FBR through a circulation summary. Muhammad Javed Ghani was a member of the FBR Board of Customs Policy. He will serve until the appointment of the regular chairman of the FBR.
Noshin Javed Amjad has been removed from the post of Chairperson FBR and posted as Secretary National Heritage and Culture Division.
Sources said that the names of Dr Ashfaq Ahmed, the current member inland revenue operations and Ahmed Mujtaba Memon, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Finance, are under consideration for the new chairman FBR.
In April, Noshin Javed Amjad, a Grade 22 officer, was appointed Chairperson FBR, replacing Shabar Zaidi. Earlier, Shabar Zaidi had apologized for continuing to work on medical grounds. Shabar Zaidi said that he was ill and the doctor had advised him to rest so that he could not continue his work.
Even at the time of appointment of Noshin Amjad, the name of Muhammad Javed Ghani for new chairman FBR was under consideration but the lot was drawn in the name of Noshin Amjad.
