Lahore / Rawalpindi:
Abid Malhi, the main accused of raping a woman on Sialkot Motorway, could not be apprehended by the police even after 19 days.
19 days have passed since the incident of gang rape of a woman on Lahore-Sialkot Motorway but despite all the evidence, the police have so far failed to nab Abid Malhi, the main accused in the incident. Police raided the homes of his friends and close associates in the light of statements made by Abid Malhi's detained wife Bashari, but so far without success.
Police sources said that the accused Abid was possibly disguised and his arrest could not be made as he was not moving anywhere.
In Rawalpindi, on the other hand, the CTD raided the Khanna Bridge on a tip-off about the presence of the accused.
When, what happened in the abuse case?
On September 9, a woman on her way to Gujranwala on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway was raped by two accused in front of her children. Shafqat Ali, an accused involved in this heinous crime, was arrested from Depalpur on September 14. He is in police custody on physical remand. The accused has confessed to his heinous crime while Shafqat's DNA was also found in the woman's DNA. Matched AK samples.
Thanks to the shortcomings of the Punjab police, the second accused Abid Malhi has not been arrested yet. He has escaped by evading the police four times in Kasur, Nankana Sahib and Sheikhupura.
