Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has rejected a proposal to revive departmental cricket.
In Islamabad, PM Imran Khan was received by PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani, Chief Executive Wasim Khan, Cricket Committee member Wasim Akram, Head Coach and Chief Selector Misbah-ul-Haq and National Test Team Captain Azhar Ali.
According to sources, the players consulted with the Prime Minister about the structure of domestic cricket. The former cricketers took the position that the abolition of departmental cricket had made local players unemployed but the Prime Minister rejected the proposal to revive departmental cricket.
Talking on the occasion, PM Imran Khan said that regional cricket is the best domestic structure. If it changes, the results will not come immediately, the new domestic structure will bring real talent.
PM Imran Khan said that no other country in the world has seen so much talent, players from club cricket join the national team directly, a better system is needed to bring this talent to the top, the more the atmosphere of competition, the more Only the best cricketers will emerge when such a system is seen in Australia.
The Prime Minister said that Misbah-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali and Muhammad Hafeez have been made to understand that there will be difficulties in reforms for the new domestic structure but it will yield far-reaching results. Time is needed to make any system effective.
